What’s Special About This Resort
While the Intercontinental Presidente Cozumel Resort & Spa is not all-inclusive, we’re giving it an honorable mention, as it is definitely one of the most sought-after on the island. It’s located in a quiet spot just south of San Miguel and the ferry ports, just next to a recreation harbor where many dive and tour boats depart from. A small, sandy cove makes this a great spot for anyone who wants to lounge, swim, or snorkel, and an on-site rental car company makes it easy to get out and see the rest of Cozumel.

Things we don't like:

-
Very small beach
-
Close enough to San Miguel to be considered convenient, but not close enough to walk
What to Do
The Intercontinental Presidente Cozumel has a beautiful infinity pool beside the ocean, as well as a small but sandy cove that’s ideal for not just snorkeling, but swimming as well – rare for this part of the island. An exclusive couple of overwater cabanas provide extra seclusion for those who want it.
Within a few minutes walk from the resort is a recreational harbor where a wide range of boat adventures can be found: scuba excursions to all the island’s best reefs, deep sea fishing charters, luxury day and sunset cruises, and more. Also just next door is a small cenote that makes for a quick and scenic hike – but don’t go in the water, as crocodiles are said to live there!
Just a few minutes down the main road, you’ll find adventure parks offering ziplining, dolphin encounters, lagoon snorkeling, and more. In the other direction, Atlantic Submarines launch their underwater vehicles, allowing any visitors to visit the depths without carrying oxygen on their backs.
What to Eat & Drink
As mentioned, there’s not an all-inclusive option at Intercontinental Presidente Cozumel, so dining at its four restaurants will be an added on expense. However, guests can book a breakfast package that includes the daily international buffet at El Caribeño, which also has a fantastic beachfront view to start your day with.
El Caribeño is also an option for lunch and dinner with an à-la-carte menu of Mexican and regional specialties served beside the sea. Le Cap Beach Club is another quieter and more exclusive option for those who want to kick back with a cocktail all day.
Other dinnertime options include Faro Blanco, specializing in seafood and coastal specialties, and Alfredo di Roma Trattoria, serving authentic Italian fare and fine wines. Room service is also an option, available 24 hours per day.
Room Guide
The 218 rooms and suites at Intercontinental Presidente Cozumel have been carefully designed to blend modern luxury with contemporary Mexican accents. Almost all of them have views of the ocean, along with balconies or terraces and spa-like amenities.
Luxury Pool View & Luxury Ocean View: Entry-level rooms are about 516 square feet in size and offer one king or two queen-size beds. Sleek and modern furnishings and designs complement the oceanfront balcony or pool front terrace – while the latter may not sound as glamorous, do consider it, as the relaxing area is very nice.
Oceanfront & Reef View Rooms: Slightly larger in size at 613 and 710 square feet, respectively, these rooms were recently renovated and have different decor schemes. Reef View rooms are in the most exclusive part of the resort and have a deck terrace with a relaxation area and hammock.
Arrecife Suite & Superior Océano Suite: Guests who want more space in their accommodations should be happy with these beautiful penthouse-style suites, with 1600 and 1300 square feet, respectively. The Arrecife Suite is on the ground floor and offers a private plunge pool, while the Superior Océano Suite is located higher and has an oversized balcony.
Esmeralda & Zafiro Presidential Suites: These are the ultimate luxury accommodation for families or small groups in Cozumel. Each has two bedrooms, separate lounging and dining areas, high-tech sound systems, and not one but two private swimming pools. Club lounge access is, of course, offered to guests in these suites.
Special Experiences
Without a doubt, visitors looking for a special experience at Intercontinental Presidente Cozumel should consider booking a Le Cap Beach Club Cabana. There are just a few of these overwater day retreats at the edge of the property, offering luxurious day beds, overwater hammocks, stairs into the sea, and personal food and drink service.
After a day of relaxation, couples wanting a romantic evening can request a private dinner on the beach to be set up just for them. There’s also a resort fire pit area on the sand that’s perfect for evenings under the stars with a drink.
In truth, one of the best things of all to do in Cozumel is to dive its numerous reefs and wrecks. Guests who want a really special experience should consider a private diving course with Scuba Bu, the resort’s renowned dive school, which can take care of certification first before showing off the island’s unbelievable underwater world.
The Intercontinental Cozumel is not an all-inclusive resort, but breakfast packages are available. Lunch and dinner at its four restaurants, as well as drinking at its bars, will be served and billed à-la-carte. The outdoor pool, fitness center, and resort activities are for all guests to enjoy.
